Nondiscrimination Policy

Purpose

H M Tucker Inc is committed to equal access to our programs, services, and opportunities. We prohibit discrimination, harassment, and retaliation in all program operations, including the Florida Education Grants program.

Our policy

We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, ethnicity, ancestry, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, pregnancy, marital or familial status, age, disability, genetic information, veteran or military status, religion, creed, citizenship or immigration status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.

This policy applies to:

  • eligibility screening, application review, and award decisions;

  • communications, events, and program activities;

  • volunteer and advisory opportunities; and

  • interactions with applicants, recipients, partners, and the public.

Harassment & retaliation

Harassment based on any protected characteristic is prohibited. Retaliation against anyone who, in good faith, raises a concern, files a complaint, or participates in an investigation is also prohibited.

Language access

We will make reasonable efforts to assist individuals with limited English proficiency (LEP), including access to interpretation or translated materials for key program information upon request.

How to report a concern (grievance process)

If you experience or witness discrimination, harassment, or retaliation in connection with our programs:

  1. Report to us:

    • Email support@hmtuckerinc.orgwith the subject “Nondiscrimination Concern.”

    • Include your name (optional), contact information, a description of what happened, the date(s), and any relevant documents.

  2. Our response:

    • We will acknowledge receipt within 2 business days and begin a prompt, impartial review.

    • We aim to reach an outcome within 30 calendar days, where feasible. Complex matters may take longer; we will keep you informed.

  3. Confidentiality:

    • We will limit sharing to those with a need to know and take steps to protect privacy consistent with a thorough review.

  4. Outcomes & remedies:

    • If a violation is found, we will take appropriate action, which may include corrective steps, training, or adjustments to ensure equal access.

  5. No retaliation:

    • Retaliation for raising a concern or participating in a review is strictly prohibited and may result in corrective action.

Program eligibility & individual assessment

Eligibility criteria are applied consistently and fairly. If an eligibility requirement appears to create a barrier related to disability, language access, or a protected characteristic, contact us to request a reasonable modification or to discuss an individualized assessment.

Coordination with other laws

Where applicable, we administer programs consistent with federal, state, and local civil-rights requirements, including protections analogous to Title VI (race, color, national origin), Title IX (sex), Section 504/ADA (disability), and relevant New York and Florida laws. This site does not accept online donations or payments.

Definitions (plain language)

  • Discrimination: Treating someone worse, or denying equal access, because of a protected characteristic.

  • Harassment: Unwelcome conduct based on a protected characteristic that is severe, persistent, or pervasive enough to create a hostile environment.

  • Retaliation: Punishing or disadvantaging a person for reporting a concern or participating in an investigation.
